Aldar Academies would like to announce the opening of a new primary school in Al Ain on 11th September 2011. The school will be developed on the site of an existing government school,less than a kilometer from the Hilton Hotel. The building is large and relatively new, although Aldar Academies are currently planning renovation to bring it up the high standards set in the Abu Dhabi Aldar Academy Schools. The school already has some excellent facilities. Renovations will commence when the current school closes in early June. When it re-opens in September facilities will include a sports hall, theatre, full size football pitch, swimming pools, large recreation areas, computer suites, specialist classrooms, as well as more than 40 teaching classrooms.
We plan to start at a fairly modest level with around 10 classes of 25 children, but will eventually grow to be a school with 960 pupils.
In order to ensure consistency of standards we have appointed several key members of staff from our Abu Dhabi schools to lead and model outstanding practice in this new venture. The new Principal will be Heather Mann, who up until recently has been Head of Primary at Al Yasmina School. Prior to this she held several headships and senior advisory positions in the UK.
Deputy Principal will be Martin Coogan. He is currently Deputy Principal at the Pearl Primary School. Martin is an experienced deputy who has a range of talents to offer in addition to his outstanding musical ability.Key Stage 2 will be led by Tom Cooper from the Pearl Primary School.
Whilst most of the key leadership positions have been filled we are still recruiting for class teachers and are returning to London to complete our staffing in early May.
The curriculum will reflect that in our other established schools i.e. a curriculum which is British in design and international in content. In order to explain our plans more fully we will be holding a presentation for parents at the Hilton Hotel Al Ain on Tuesday 26th April at 7 p.m. Application forms will be available at this meeting and registrations will commence at 8 a.m. on Wednesday 27April. The registration office will also be based at the Hilton Hotel Al Ain.
