Year 10

Autumn Term 
Students will participate in a range of workshops to develop their devising skills, characterisation and understanding of explorative strategies, elements and mediums. They will deepen their knowledge of theatre history and be able to apply this to their overall understanding of the subject. 

End of October: Theatre History Project
End of December:  Mock Devised Performance and Portfolio
Theatre visit date: TBC

Spring Term
Having practiced at the start of Year 10 students will complete Component One: Devising. This is an internally assessed unit that requires students to create an original piece of theatre working in groups of 3 - 6. The work is performed to a live audience and filmed for moderation. 

Summer Term
Students will begin working on Component 3 Theatre Makers in Practice. They will begin with the study of a set text exploring from ‘Page to Stage’ the elements behind the script and characterisation.

Year 11

Autumn Term
Having practised at the start of Year 10 students will complete Component One: Devising (40%). This is an internally assessed unit that requires students to create an original piece of theatre working in groups of 3 - 6. The work is performed to a live audience and filmed for moderation. Re-visit Component 3 Theatre Makers in Practice (40%). Exploring from ‘Page to Stage’ the elements behind the script and characterisation. Students will also go on a theatre visit date.

Spring Term
Students will complete the final preparations for their Unit 2 “Performance from text” performance exam. This will involve extra rehearsals outside of school (20%). This unit is assessed by a visiting external examiner. Written coursework deadline: January.

Summer Term
Written paper - Inspector calls and Live Theatre lasting 1 hour 30 minutes which is externally assessed.
