YEAR 13 (EXAM BOARD: EDEXCEL)

Autumn Term
Firstly students will share the presentations that they have prepared over the summer. This will give an indication of the direction that each individual wishes to take the stimulus and the research that has been completed so far. Students are put into groups and begin working independently on the development of the final devised piece for Unit 3 (based on work completed last half term). Extra out of school rehearsals are required to prepare for this and it is vital that written notes are taken by students throughout the process. Teachers assess all practical contributions during the process. The final performance of the Unit 3 piece will take place on an evening to an invited audience. This is assessed by the teachers and moderated externally by the exam board.
Performance exam date: November 2015

Spring Term
Students begin work on the practical and theoretical preparation for the Unit 4 exam. They will be required to research the set text (Woyzeck by Georg Buchner) and a selected Shakespeare play. A visit to the theatre will take place this term to see a live, contemporary production of the Shakespeare play. Students will be taught exam technique as well as sitting a full mock in preparation for the final exam. A visit to Stratford-Upon-Avon is being planned to help students to fully understand the context of Shakespeare’s world.

Summer Term
Final preparations for Unit 4 written exam. This will involve practice papers, exam technique and extra revision sessions in the final weeks before the exam.
