Al Bateen School, which opened in September 2011, provides high quality education for students from the ages of 11 to 18. The School currently has students in Years 7 – 10 and will continue to grow over the next few years. We offer a British-style curriculum with an international dimension and one that is suitably adapted to meet the needs of students living and studying in Abu Dhabi. In addition, the school offers a wide range of extra-curricular activities as part of the CAS Programme.
The School has been authorised to offer the prestigious International Baccalaureate (IB) Diploma Programme – the perfect programme for students seeking a broad, challenging education with a global view. Our first Year 12 IB cohort will start in September 2014. Admissions will open in December 2013.
The IB Diploma Programme is an academically challenging and balanced programme of education with final examinations that prepares students, aged 16 to 18, for success at university and life beyond. The Diploma Programme prepares students for effective participation in a rapidly evolving and increasingly global society as they develop physically, intellectually, emotionally and ethically and acquire breadth and depth of knowledge and understanding, studying courses from six subject groups. Core modules of the IB Diploma Programme include the study at least two languages; an extended essay that requires independent research and study; a unique Theory of Knowledge programme that explore the nature of knowledge and its importance in human experience and a creativity, action, service (CAS) programme, which involves students in a range of activities alongside their academic studies – arts and creative; physical activity and service within the community.
